There are two reasons I am taking IST600:

1. My employer has just implemented Web 2.0 tools (blogs, Wikis, Social Media) for our internal use, and I feel I need to get up to speed on how to use these effectively.  I am hoping this course will improve my blogging abilities and improve my postings at work.

2. Several years ago I took up running as a way to “stay in shape” and attempt to keep up with my kids (or at least not drag so far behind them) when they started running cross-country.  As I ran, I found that my mind freed up from my everyday worries and I began thinking about running and the parallels with my daily life.  I kept thinking, “I should start a blog and start writing down some of these ideas”.  Taking this class is a way to stop myself from thinking, “someday I’m going to do this” and forcing myself to actually get started; hence, the name of my blog.
